Saying Goodbye to Sarah and Charity!

They are getting their last kisses and hugs in before taking off to the airport!  We will miss them!!

Donation of Nappies from Charisma Church!!

We were so blessed to receive a large donation of nappies (diapers) from Charisma Church in Klerksdorp!  With 35 children under 6 years old you can imagine how many nappies we go through in one day!!!  We are so grateful for the provision from Pastor Read van Rensburg at Charisma Church!  Sarah Bosworth and Charity Corkins, two of our volunteers from Indiana, USA is pictured above sorting the nappies into sizes for our baby and toddler rooms!  We want to say a very big "thank you" and "God bless you" to all who made this possible!!

Happy Birthday to You!

We had a birthday party for one of our big girls that turned 8 years old!!  We celebrated by having pizza and vegetables and sang Happy Birthday while she blew out the candles!  

And of course the presents!!

A Trip To the Bird Farm!!

We went on an outing to the Bird Farm!  What fun we had seeing all the beautiful birds God made for us to enjoy!  We named all the colors that we saw on the different kinds of birds!  

We even got to see an ostrich!!  And monkeys too!  

We topped our time off with some ice cream!!  Yum yum!!

A Trip To The Lion Park!

We took 9 of our older kids to the Lion Park this past week. What a great outing for them!  They were able to pet a 3 month old lion cub!  What a great experience for them to see the lions at different stages of growth!  We learned so much about the lions that live in this beautiful country!

Slumber Party Time!!

Our four older girls along with Samantha, Sarah and Charity had lots of fun having a slumber party!  There was time for pizza, rice krispy treats and lots of sweets!  They also got to do manicures and watch movies!  A girls' night to remember for sure!!

Charity and Sarah On Outreach

Sarah Bosworth and Charity Corkins  pictured here along with other volunteers spend their Wednesdays with Youth Pastor Noel Woods from Rustenburg Assembly of God going on outreach to some of the villages outside of Rustenburg.  They were able to spend time with lots of kids and pray for many people who were very sick.

Samantha is here with some of our precious toddlers!  One of these little ones went for adoption this week!  We were so thankful that our prayers were answered for one of our little ones! Now there is a forever family for our precious child!  

We thank the Lord for His provision in their life!

It's Trampoline Time!

Pictured here with our kids are some of our Volunteers!  We are so thankful for the volunteers that come our way to help lift the load!  The hours of love and care they give to the children are priceless!  It shows when just one of these little ones lift their arms and reaches up to be held by a volunteer!  What a blessing each volunteer is to the Lighthouse Children's Shelter!

Off To Sun City!!

Pictured here are some of the kids that went on an outing to Sun City!  We were blessed with tickets to attend the Children's Day at Sun City!  The kids had a great time!  There were lots of festivities along with lunch and of course some sweets too!!  A big thank you to Samantha Ketchum, Lorinda Venter, Nomhle Mputle and Sophie Zondo who took the kids on the outing all day!!

Sarah Bosworth from Indiana, USA Visits Lighthouse!

Sarah Bosworth is visiting us here at Lighthouse for a few weeks!  We are so thankful to have her here with us!  She is from Indianapolis, IN and is the daughter of long time friends of ours, Peter and Debbie Bosworth who pastor Abundant Life Assembly of God church in Indianapolis, Indiana. Sarah and her friend Charity Corkins are attending North Central University in Minneapolis, MN in the Fall.

Charity Corkins from Indianapolis, Indiana is here visiting and helping us out at the Lighthouse Children's Shelter! We are so thankful she has come to be with us and get to know our precious kids!

Friends In Ministry Together!

We had so much fun taking time for 4th of July here in South Africa with our ministry friends!  Pictured here from left is the Betzer Family, the van der Merwe Family and the Meng Family.  Derek and Rebecca van der Merwe are the YWAM Base Leaders here in Rustenburg and Matt and Angela Meng are the DTS Leaders on the Base.  Each semester as a new group of people come in they spend part of their DTS time here at the Lighthouse in loving, caring, feeding, playing and praying for our children!  We are so grateful for the partnership in ministry we have together!

Georgia Team Here With Us!

We want to say Thank You to Philip and Melissa Vestal, the pastors at Harlem Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia.  They brought a team of people from their church to minister here in South Africa and spent two days loving on our kids!  May God bless them as they return back to their home church and share the message of what Jesus is doing here in Rustenburg, South Africa! 

Accord Business Academy Visits Lighthouse!

The Accord Business Academy Staff from Pretoria blessed us by coming and bringing donations to the Lighthouse!  They poured on the gifts as they brought us lots of groceries and a brand new outfit for each of our children here!!  We want to say a very big thank you to them for their generosity and for all the years they have helped us in training our Caregivers with their Healthcare Certificates!  Thank You and May God Bless You!!
