A Party Complete with Jumping Castle!!

Our Saturday party came complete with a jumping castle, face painting,
animal balloons and toys for each of us!! Thank you Colorado Team for making our party
fit for a king for all of us here at LCS!!

Lincoln Brings Team from Colorado!!

We were so privileged to have Lincoln come back home to the Lighthouse in Rustenburg, South Africa!! And he brought 13 others from his church, Abundant Life Christian Center in Denver, Colorado. They were such a blessing to all of us and so many others while they have been here the past 2 weeks!! The team was able to minister in schools, villages and the prison here in the Rustenburg area. They also blessed us financially and brought lots of goodies!! We want to say a HUGE thank you to all of them!! They brought diapers, toys, baby bottles, gifts for our Caregivers and awesome uniforms for our Caregivers!! We thank God for His provision through His special people who came all the way from Colorado to bless all of us here at the Lighthouse!!

LCS Treated To Gold Reef City!!!

David and Merle, two of our volunteers treated all of us older ones to a trip to Gold Reef City in Johannesburg! We had the time of our lives riding on all the rides and playing on the jungle gym!! We are so thankful to David and Merle for taking us on such a special outing!!

Muvhango Visits Lighthouse!!

Eugene Kgalema! We say thank you to them for taking time out of their busy schedules to be with us here at the Lighthouse!!

The Muvhango Celebrities From SABC 2 Visit LCS!

We were privileged to have some of the celebrities of Muvhango from SABC 2 in Johannesburg!
They came to visit the Lighthouse and bring the children a variety of things! We were so thankful for the new clothing, nappies, formula and wet wipes for our babies and Toddlers!

The Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Rustenburg

We were privileged to have the Chinese Chamber of Commerce to visit us recently as they brought some wonderful donations for us!! The beautiful blankets, sugar, oil and maize were brought in abundance for which we are so very grateful!! We continue to be able to care for children because of people who give out of their heart for our children!

Thank You and Goodbye To The World Race Team!!

We want to say a BIG thank you to the World Race Team who have been living with us here at the Lighthouse for the past month and a half. Pictured here is Josh Daniels, Annie Bower, Ryan Stewart and Tim Weisemann. Brianna is not pictured here. We were so blessed to have their help in so many ways! They left the USA in January to travel to a different country each month for the year of 2007.. They have been in South America and Africa and now on their way to Thailand, Cambodia and China! We are so thankful that God brought them our way for this time! They helped in painting the Bible School here in Rustenburg and helped every day with all our children! Everyone is going to miss them so very much!! We pray God's blessings on them!

The Betzer Family

Greetings from our family to all of you who check in with us from time to time here on the Lighthouse Blog! Thank you for your prayers and support that keep all of us going here at the Lighthouse Children's Shelter in Rustenburg. South Africa! Our daughter Brooke came home a couple of weeks ago and we are so thankful to have her here with us. Daniel is 10 years old and Hope is 6 years old. I recently underwent 2 surgeries in June and have had a long recovery of which David has been doing all the caring of the family! So we are grateful to have Brooke here until I am up and running again! In the mean time we are so thankful for all the help around us that God has put in place to keep everything around us running smoothly! We give Him all the glory!

More Visitors at LCS!!

Professor John Mostert from AGTS in Springfield, Missouri brought a group of young people by to spend some time loving on our kids! We were so glad to get to meet them!

The Lighthouse Caregivers!!

These are the precious ladies that keep this place moving and shaking!! We are so grateful for each one of these women who care for our precious children! We know God has brought each one of them to be a part of our big family here at the Lighthouse! The Caregivers are working around the clock to keep our 33 babies and toddlers fed, clean, cared and prayed for! We love you, precious women of the Lighthouse!!!

Sacramento, California Group Visits Lighthouse

The Chai Alpha group from the University in Sacramento, California recently visited us here at the Lighthouse! We were so glad to welcome them and let them spend time with our kids here at the Shelter!

A Big 7 Year Old and 1 Year Old!!

There were presents to be opened by our birthday girls! Our big 7 year old was so happy with her new baby doll that came with a bottle! Our little one was happy with her new stuffed puppy dog! She will have a special puppy to sleep with now!

Happy Birthday To Our July Birthday Girls!

We had two special girls who had birthdays this month and so we celebrated with lots of cake and goodies along with all the balloons and whistles!!

Brooke Comes Home!!

What a surprise to have Brooke come home for a visit to take care of her Mom who has been in the hospital! We are all so excited to see her! Brooke took the older girls out for a movie and a treat! They had so much fun going out and getting caught up on all the girl things!
